SHRM of SWKS Receives EXCEL Silver Award

    SHRM of Southwest Kansas Awarded for
    Elevating Human Resources, Improving Workplaces

    SHRM recently awarded SHRM of Southwest Kansas its prestigious EXCEL Silver Award for the Chapter's accomplshments in 2023.

    The EXCEL Award is given to state councils and chapers to recognize major accomplishments, strategic activities, and tactical initiatives that elevate the profession of human resources.

    SHRM's impact on the world of work is due to the dedication and efforts of our chapters and state councils like SHRM of Southwest Kansas. "The Silver EXCEL Award is not only a celebration of the great work done by SHRM of Southwest Kansas - it's also recognition of their focus and determination to cause the effect to make great workplaces," said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, president and chief executive officer of SHRM. "Their HR leadership is exemplary."

    The EXCEL Award can be earned at four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Each level has a prescibed set of requirements and accomplishments that must be met. SHRM of Southwest Kansas will receive receognition in SHRM publications and at conferences, a logo to display on its website, and information to share with its members about the significance of this award.

    SHRM of Southwest Kansas earned the 2023 Silver EXCEL Award by focusing on retention and dual membership, and as a result increased our membership by 13%. Another initiative for the year was to provide our chapter membership and HR professionals with professional development opportunities close to home. We were able to provide 9 professional development credits this year. Our third initiative was supporting our SHRM Foundation. SHRM of Southwest Kansas recognizes the importance of the SHRM Foundation and its initiatives to help HR students and professionals, and our way of giving back was by making a $500 donation to the Foundation.
