About Us

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest professional association devoted to human resource management. SHRM's mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most current and comprehensive resources and to advance the profession by promoting HR’s essential, strategic role. Founded in 1948, SHRM represents more than 250,000 individual members and has a network of more than 575 affiliated chapters.

Our Chapter

SHRM of SWKS formed in Garden City to serve small business owners, human resource professionals and anyone else who deals with human resource issues in South West Kansas. We became an affiliate of Society for Human Resources Management on April 14, 2011.

Our Mission

To provide opportunities for professional growth through shared knowledge and networking. We serve the businesses, communities and HR professionals in Southwest Kansas.

Chapter Meetings

SHRM of SWKS strives to meet our mission & vision goals by hosting high-level presenters speaking on topics affecting businesses of any size. Interesting programs and round table discussios keep our members informed about current topics in human resources. We also sponsor area seminars on human resource-related issues.

Join us on the second Thursday of each month from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Our meetings begin with lunch and our presentations typically run from noon to 1:00 pm. We meet in the Endowment Room of Garden City Community College, which can be found at the Beth Tedro Student Center. (Located on the north side of Spruce Street between Campus Dr & JC Street.)

Annual Conference

Our Annual Business Leadership Meeting is typically held in October of each year in lieu of our regular monthly chapter meeting. This all-day event features 3+ guest speakers, as well as our annual fundraiser for the SHRM Foundation. Please see Meetings & Events for program and schedule details.
